YouTube throws virtual graduation for the Class of 2020 with BTS and the Obamas

The virtual graduation ceremony, 'Dear Class Of 2020', will include commencement speeches and a grad night after-party with BTS.

Graduating students around the world were disappointed to see their graduation ceremonies being cancelled in light of COVID-19. But if you are part of the graduating class of 2020, there is still hope for you to celebrate this milestone.

Following the wave of online graduation ceremonies, YouTube announced its own upcoming virtual graduation ceremony called Dear Class Of 2020 which will feature a variety of inspiring figures.

The YouTube initiative aims to encourage graduating students who have worked hard to get to where they are with inspirational speeches and performances by famous artists.

Headlining the commencement speeches are former President of the United States, Barack Obama and former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. They will be giving individual speeches and a joint message to the graduates of 2020.

Other commencement speakers participating in the ceremony are K-pop boy group BTS, singer Lady Gaga, Chief Executive Officer of Google Sundar Pichai, activist Malala Yousafzai and others.

BTS and other artists will also be performing at the virtual after-party of the ceremony.

The ceremony will also feature special appearances by celebrities and some of YouTube’s content creators: AsapSCIENCE, Alicia Keys, Chloe x Halle, Dude Perfect, Jackie Aina, Kelly Rowland, Mr. Kate, The Try Guys, Zane Hijazi, Zendaya and Kerry Washington.

YouTube has partnered with Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative, which encourages students to complete their education past high school, and other foundations to bring students from all around the world to give graduating speeches as well.

This initiative by YouTube is definitely going to be memorable for the class of 2020, with so many inspirational figures addressing this ceremony.
