Youthopia writers’ Spotify Wrapped 2020
The top artists and songs we loved in 2020.
I’m sure you’ve seen Spotify Wrapped 2020 everywhere online.
Personally, this feature is something that I look forward to every December since Spotify first debuted it in 2016. It gives you a summary of your year in music and it’s fun to share with your friends!

If you’re looking for new songs or artists to vibe to, here are some of our writers’ year in music.
Lockdowns with Lauv

Kicking it off with my top artists of 2020, we have Lauv. He also takes the place of my top song of the year with Miss Me – Demo. This song is part of his fourth extended play (EP) titled Without You.
This song reminds me of the days early in the year when we were all stuck at home due to the pandemic.
Songs for when you’re missing family

Celeste’s top song of the year is Already Home by A Great Big World. She remembers listening to this when she was missing her grandparents who she had stayed with for seven weeks.
A Great Big World is an American musical duo, Ian Axel and Chad King. You may recognise them from their 2014 hit song called Say Something which also features Christina Aguilera.
The K-pop craze is here to stay

Meagan’s favourite song would be Tell Me You Do Too by Nana Ou-Yang, a Taiwanese musician and actress. The song captures the ordinary happiness that one experiences when they’re in love.
She also loves listening to Nana’s Cello Loves Disney Spotify playlist while she works as it brings her calmness and puts her in a good mood.
Back to the 2000s with All Time Low

Shannon recommends Kids in The Dark by her top artist of 2020, All Time Low. The rock band consists of Alex Gaskarth, Jack Barakat, Zack Merrick and Rian Dawson.
They were largely popular in the 2000s and left fans upset when they took a break in 2017.
Melancholic tunes from Eric Chou

Jia Hui’s top song is I’m Happy by Taiwanese singer-songwriter Eric Chou. He is known for his melancholic songs like the Distance of Love.
He had also been dubbed as the “king of the lovelorn people” for his ballads like How Have You Been.
