What to expect at Asian Civilisations Museum’s Art of Wellness event

The event, presented by Crossing Cultures X Caravanserai, will happen on Dec 2 to 4 and Dec 9 to 11.

If you are looking to treat yourself to a myriad of wellness activities this December, look no further as the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) will host the Art of Wellness event from Dec 2 to 4 and Dec 9 to 11.

The event is a special edition presented by Crossing Cultures X Caravanserai, featuring traditional and Asian approaches to beauty and nutrition. 

According to ACM, visitors can expect to immerse themselves in therapeutic experiences and mindful moments through the activities available. 

Here is a list of the activities you can take part in when visiting the Art of Wellness event. 

1. Asian Apothecary Bazaar: Pop-up Market

The Apothecary Bazaar will feature makers, chefs, brewers, and healers who reimagine Asian sources of wellness to cater to a more holistic modern lifestyle.

The bazaar will run throughout the duration of the Art of Wellness event. It will be held at ACM’s level one lobby from 4pm to 9pm daily. Admission to this bazaar will be free for all visitors. 

2. The Oasis: Wellness, Music & Art

Held at the ACM Hardcourt, The Oasis: Wellness, Music & Art will feature uplifting, mood-enhancing musical performances and wellness workshops that aims to teach the attendees on how to live well.

Attendees can also join in for a spot of communal mindful yarn bombing. This event will run throughout the duration of the Art of Wellness event, from 4pm to 9pm. Admission is free for all visitors. 

3. Healing Touch: Ayurvedic Massage Workshop for Pairs with SOL House

Women-led local business, SOL House, will host a 80-minute immersive session that will offer an introduction to Ayurveda.

The session will educate participants on simple head and hand massage techniques and on how to regulate the nervous system and find balance from within.

This event will be held at ACM’s Discovery Room located in Basement 1 from 7.30pm to 9pm on Dec 2. This workshop is suitable for pairs and tickets will be priced at $20 per pair.

Each participant will also receive a bottle of Ayurvedic massage oil to bring home with them. 

4. Mind & Body: Meditation & Tension Release Therapy Workshop with Dr Xiang Jun

Those looking to heal their mind and body through traditional Asian practices of meditation and movement, can participate in the Meditation & Tension Release Therapy Workshop with Dr Xiang Jun.

This workshop aims to help participants better understand the principles of meditation. There will also be a session on self-healing through movement, based on traditional movement practices.

This event will be held at ACM’s Discovery Room located in Basement 1 from 5.30pm to 7pm on Dec 3. Tickets will be priced at $10 per person. 

5. All about Jamu: Introductory Workshop with Salwa Salim

Malay birthing tradition expert and founder of Mummy’s Massage, Salwa Salim, will be hosting the All about Jamu: Introductory Workshop on Dec 4 from 5.30pm to 7pm. 

Here, participants will be able to understand the concept of jamu for health and wellness, learn about its history, benefits, and how to incorporate it into their daily lives.

They will also be able to observe jamu in various forms and how jamu can be used for beauty through herbal baths, scrubs, and facial powder.

This workshop will be held at ACM’s Discovery Room located in Basement 1. Interested parties can purchase tickets priced at $15 per person. Participants will be able to take home recipes and a jamu herbal bath sachet after the workshop. 

6. Sulwhasoo Korean Facial Massage & Acupressure Workshops

Sulwhasoo will present two specially curated workshops on Dec 10. The Korean Facial Massage Techniques Workshop, to be held from 3pm to 4pm, will be conducted by a Sulwhasoo Beauty Trainer.

The trainer will introduce participants to traditional Korean facial massage techniques. 

The Acupressure For Holistic Beauty & Wellness workshop will happen from 5pm to 6pm. This workshop will educate participants on the different acupressure points on their face and other parts of their body that help with revitalising the skin and boosting blood circulation.

This workshop will be held at ACM’s River Room located at level 2. Each workshop is priced at $150 per participant and is inclusive of one Complimentary Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Treatment Voucher, worth $300, and one Sulwhasoo Skincare Kit, worth $69.

As this the Art of Wellness event is held in conjunction with ACM’s special Body & Spirit: The Human Body in Thought and Practice exhibition, visitors will be given a discounted $10 entry into the Body & Spirit exhibition during programme timings.

Singaporeans and Permanent Residents will also be able to enjoy a further discounted admission at $6.

Visitors can expect to receive extremely limited Sulwhasoo 2-piece skincare kits worth $45 and vouchers to be given out between 4pm to 9pm on Dec 2 to 4 and 9 to 11. These kits and vouchers sponsored by Sulwhasoo are while stocks last.
