Weekly new dengue cases hit 1,466, expected to surpass the highest number in 2020 this June
There are currently 393 active dengue clusters.
The number of dengue cases recorded in the past week continues to rise, with over 1,466 cases reported between Jun 5 and Jun 11.
This is 11 cases more than the previous week ending Jun 4. The total number of dengue cases reported as of Jun 11 is 14,597.
National Environmental Agency (NEA) recently warned residents about the expected increase in dengue cases in June and alert them that dengue cases may rise and surpass the highest number of weekly dengue cases seen in 2020 at 1,787.
There are currently 393 active dengue clusters, with over 131 having the red alert, indicating that there are 10 or more cases in a particular cluster.
The main clusters for the dengue cases remain the same as the previous week with 500 cases from Lorong Kismis and Cheng Soon Crescent, 375 cases from Woodlands Avenue 9 and Woodlands Crescent and 313 cases from Alexandra Road and Stirling Road.
Residents are advised to take urgent action to break the chain of disease transmission by removing stagnant water and potential mosquito breeding habitats by doing the Mozzie Wipeout ‘B-L-O-C-K’ steps regularly.
