SPD is hosting its SPD Ability Walk & Run on Sep 3 to support persons with disabilities (PwDs), this time as a hybrid event.

Established in 1964, SPD is a charity in Singapore that seeks to enable PwDs of all ages to be as independent and self-reliant as possible.

There will be a physical event, Singapore River Trails, where participants can take part in fun activities and quizzes at their own pace on a trail spanning 4km.

Those who complete all the activities will stand to win a free tote bag at the end of the trail, and all participants can collect a customised bucket hat before the event at Clarke Quay Central Mall.

For those unable to join the physical event, there’s also the Virtual Walk & Run, which starts on Sep 4 and runs till Sep 24. Over the course of three weeks, participants can challenge themselves to walk or run up to 50km and unlock e-badges along the way.

Whether you take part in the Walk & Run, you can still donate to the SPD’s fundraiser. A donation as small as $20 will be able to fund a week’s worth of meals for a PwD receiving day care, and your contributions will help SPD alleviate the costs of physical therapy, specialised transport and developmental aid.

You can sign up for both the physical and virtual events here, or make a donation here
