UNIQLO opening five new stores in 2022, with first neighbourhood store in Ang Mo Kio
This will bring UNIQLO’s store count in Singapore to 31.
UNIQLO has plans to open five new stores and refresh two existing ones in Singapore by the end of 2022.
This will bring the number of UNIQLO outlets in Singapore to 31.
One of the upcoming new outlets will be UNIQLO’s first neighbourhood store in Ang Mo Kio. It will open at the end of the first quarter of 2022.
The store, a standalone building at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, will test out new inclusive features such as a wheelchair-friendly fitting room, community partnership projects and sustainability initiatives.
The new store aims to provide an inclusive shopping experience for everyone across all generations and needs.
In order to fulfill this, UNIQLO will offer special needs customers an assisted shopping experience with trained staff through advance bookings. Although this is during operating hours, customers with specific needs can book slots before the store opens, when lights are dimmed and the music is muted.
Also, to uphold its sustainability efforts, the brand is also debuting the UNIQLO Repair Studio offering basic on-site clothes repair services such as mending torn pockets and sewing fallen buttons.
“As a global retailer, we are in a unique position to use our business to benefit the community around us by offering greater inclusivity and contributing meaningfully to a more sustainable society,” Uniqlo Singapore and Malaysia CEO Yuki Yamada said.
He added that the brand looks forward to expanding its inclusivity and sustainability efforts to the other outlets in Singapore.
UNIQLO also said that it will open a new store in Clementi. More details about the other stores will be released at a later date.
