Team Singapore’s schedule and results at the 2023 ASEAN Para Games

The 12th edition of the ASEAN Para Games will see 25 Singapore athletes competing across six sports in Cambodia between Jun 3 and 9. 

As of Jun 9, Singapore has won 12 gold medals, 15 silver medals and 17 bronze medals.

Here are the results and schedule for Team Singapore paralympic squad in Cambodia.

Jun 8

Swimming

Sophie Soon clinched the gold medal in the Women’s 50m Freestyle S13 Timed Final with a timing of 33.26 seconds, She has set a new Games record.

In the Women’s 50m Freestyle S10 Timed Final, Janelle Tong won the bronze medal and set herself a new national record and personal best with a timing of 40.15 seconds.

Danielle Moi also won the bronze medal in the Women’s 50m Freestyle S14 Timed Final, clocking in at a timing of 30.29 seconds which is a new national record and personal best.

Colin Soon won his fourth gold medal at the Games after clocking a timing of 27.02 seconds in the Men’s 50m Freestyle S13 Timed Final. He set a new national record, Games record and personal best. Wong Zhi Wei clinched the bronze medal with a timing of 27.43 seconds.

 

Badminton

Tay Wei Ming clinched the joint bronze medal after losing 2-0 to Indonesia’s Dheva Anrimusthi in the semi finals of the Men’s Singles SU5.

 

Table Tennis

Despite an early 3-1 defeat to Indonesia’s Audy Ngangi in the third round of the Men’s Singles Class 2 Pools, Rodrick Li managed to clinch the joint bronze medal after beating the Philippines’s Manuel Buena Repato 3-0. 

Muhammad Dinie Asyraf Bin Huzaini missed out on the quarter finals of the Men’s Singles Class 3 after falling to a narrow 3-2 loss to Indonesia’s Cahyo Pambudi in the third round of the Round Robin.

Despite an early 3-2 win against Thailand’s Suthida Saesathan, Claire Toh clinched the silver medal after losing 3-1 to Suthida’s teammate Chilchitparyak Bootwansirina in the second round of the Women’s Singles Class 1-2 Pools.

Boccia

Aloysius Gan and Toh Sze Ning won the bronze medal after losing 4-3 to Thailand’s Ladamanee Kla-han and Akkadej Choochuenklin in the third round of the Mixed Pairs BC3.

Jun 7

Swimming

Toh Wei Soong set a new Games record after winning the gold medal in the Men’s 50m Butterfly S7 Timed Final. 

He also set another Games record in the Men’s 50m Freestyle S7 Timed Final, where he won another gold medal with a timing of 29.22 seconds.

 

Athletics

In the Men’s T40/41 Shot Put Final, Muhammad Diroy clinched his first gold medal at this year’s Games, accumulating a total distance of 9.17m.

James Ang won the silver medal in the Men’s T13 200m Final, clocking in at a timing of 23.33 seconds. 

In the Men’s T37 200m Final, Lionel Toh came in fifth place put of six with a timing of 27.66 seconds.

 

Badminton

Singapore failed to progress to the semi finals of the Men’s Singles SL4 after Ang Chee Hiong fell to a 2-0 defeat to Malaysia’s Mohd Amin Burhanuddin.

Chee Hiong also faced another defeat with Tay Wei Ming after losing 2-0 to Indonesia’s Oddie Kurnia Dwi Listianto Putra and Suryo Nugroho. They failed to progress to the semi finals and gave Singapore an overall third place finish out of four.

In the Men’s Singles SU5, Tay Wei Ming advanced to the semi finals after defeating Malaysia’s Mohamad Faris Ahmad Azri 2-1. 

 

Boccia

Despite a heavy 11-0 defeat to Indonesia’s Suci Kirana Dewi and Trimo Coba Kuwat in the first round of the Mixed Pairs BC3, Aloysius Gan and Toh Sze Ning went on to beat Malaysia’s Vikneshwaran R. Tiagarajan and Lim Yin Xiang. They will next face Ladamanee Klahan and Akkadej Choochuenklin tomorrow at 11.40am.

 

Table Tennis

In the first round of the Men’s Singles Class 3 Round Robin, Muhammad Dinie Asyraf Bin Huzaini beat Cambodia’s Busree Wawaeni 3-0. However, he then lost 3-0 to Thailand’s Busree Wawaeni in the second round. He will face Indonesia’s Cahyo Pambudi tomorrow at 11.30am.

Rodrick Li Zhixian lost 3-1  to Thailand’s Natthawut Thinathet and Thirayu Chueawong in the first and second round of the Men’s Singles Class 2 Pools. He will next face Indonesia’s Audy Ngangi tomorrow at 12pm. 

Jun 6

Boccia

In the Women’s BC1 final, Jeralyn Tan won the silver medal after suffering a 3-1 loss against Thailand’s Satanan Phromsiri.

Aloysius Gan clinched the silver medal after losing 7-2 to Thailand’s Akkadej Choochuenklin in the fourth round of the Men’s BC3 Round Robin.

Gareth Ho won the bronze medal after a 9-1 victory against Malaysia’s Vickneshwaran R. Tiagarajan. 

Toh Sze Ning also clinched the bronze medal in the fourth round of the Women’s BC3 Round Robin after losing 9-2 against Thailand’s Ladamanee Kla-Han. 

 

Swimming

Colin Soon won his third gold medal at the Games when he came in the Men’s 100m Freestyle S13 Final. He clocked in at a timing of 59.72 seconds and has set a new national record, Games record and personal best.

Wong Zhi Wei clinched his second silver medal at the Games with a timing of 1:00.13. He also won the gold medal and set a new Games record in the Men’s 100m Butterfly S13 Timed Final with a timing of 1:03.87.

Colin also set a new national record and personal best in the Men’s 100m Backstroke S13 Timed Final, winning the silver medal with a timing of 1:10.12.  

In the Men’s 100m Freestyle S14 Final, Darren Chan finished in sixth place out of nine, clocking in at a timing of 1:00.30. He has set a new national record and personal best.

Darren also set a new national record and personal best in the Men’s 100m Butterfly S14 Timed Final,  where he finished in fifth place out of ten with a timing of 1:04.08.

Sophie Soon clinched the gold medal in the Women’s 100m Butterfly S13 Timed Final, clocking in at a timing of 1:22.41. 

In the Women’s 100m Butterfly S14 Timed Final, Danielle Moi won the silver medal after clocking in at a timing of 1:14.27. She then clinched the bronze medal in the Women’s 200m IM SM14 Timed Final with a timing of 2:53.65, where she set a new national record and personal best.

Han Liang Chou came in tenth out of ten in the Men’s 200m IM SM14 Timed Final, clocking in at a timing of 2:50.97.

Janelle Tong won the bronze medal in the Women’s 200m IM SM10 Timed Final with a timing of 3:50.12. She has set a new national record and personal best.

 

Table Tennis

In the sixth round of the Mixed Doubles TT1-3 Round Robin, Muhammad Dinie Bin Asyraf and Claire Toh fell to a 3-1 defeat to Thailand’s Dararat Asayut and Anurak Laowong. They will next face Indonesia’s Listiana Herawati and Cahyo Pambudi today at 2pm.

 

Badminton

Ang Chee Hiong suffered a 2-0 loss to Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan in the second round of the Men’s Singles SL4. He will still progress to the quarter finals. 

Tay Wei Ming also progressed to the quarter finals in the Men’s Singles SU5 after beating Malaysia’s Amyrul Yazid Ahmad Sibi in the second round.

Jun 5

Swimming

Darren Chan clinched the silver medal in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke SB14 Timed Final with a timing of 33.89 seconds. He has set a new national record and personal best. Han Liang Chou finished in fifth place out of seven, clocking in at a timing of 35.99 seconds.

Both of them also finished in fourth and 11th place out of 11 respectively in the Men’s 50m Butterfly S14 Timed Final, with Darren setting himself another national record and personal best.

In the Men’s 50m Breaststroke SB13 Timed Finals, Colin Soon clinched his second gold medal at the Games with a timing of 33.47 seconds, which is also a new national record and personal best. Wong Zhi Wei won the silver medal after clocking in at a timing of 33.76 seconds, setting himself a new personal best.

Toh Wei Soong clinched the silver medal in the Men’s 100m Backstroke S7 Timed Final with a timing of 1:18.23, setting himself a new national record and personal best.

In the Women’s 50m Butterfly S14 Timed Final, Danielle Moi also won the silver medal and set herself a new national record and personal best with a timing of 33.06 seconds.

Badminton

Tay Wei Ming lost 2-1 to Thailand’s Nattaphon Thaweesap in the second round of the Men’s Singles SU5. He will next play Malaysia’s Amyrul Yazid Ahmad Sibi, with details to be confirmed.

 

Boccia

Despite an 8-4 win against Indonesia’s Trimo Coba Kuwat in the previous round, Gareth Ho fell to a 4-2 defeat to Thailand’s Akkadej Choochuenklin. He will next face Malaysia’s Vickneshwaran R. Tiagarajan tomorrow at 1pm.

Aloysius Gan won 6-2 against Indonesia’s Trimo Coba Kuwat in the third round of the Men’s BC3 Round Robin. He will next play against Thailand’s Akkadej Choochuenklin tomorrow at 1pm.

In the second round of the Women’s BC1 Pools, Jeralyn Tan defeated Indonesia’s Handayani Handayani 5-0. She will next face Laos’s Touny Onemouy in the semi finals tomorrow at 10am.

Toh Sze Ning fell to a 5-2 defeat to Thailand’s Juthamat Rattana in the third round of the Women’s BC3 Round Robin. She will next face Thailand’s Ladamanee Klahan tomorrow at 1pm.

 

Athletics

In the Men’s T37 100m Final, Lionel Toh came in fourth place out of six with a timing of 13.50 seconds.

Muhammad Diroy Bin Noordin finished in fourth place out of four in the Men’s F40/41 Discus Final, accumulating a total distance of 18.60 metres.

Maisarah Binte Mohamed Hassan also finished in fourth place out of four in the Women’s T38 100m Final, clocking in at a timing of 17.35 seconds.

In the Men’s T20 Long Jump Final, Suhairi Bin Suhani came in fourth place out of six, jumping a total distance of 6.39 metres.

 

Table Tennis

Singapore clinched the joint bronze medal after losing 2-0 to Thailand in the fourth round of the Men’s Team 1-3 Pools.

In the second round of the Mixed Doubles Round Robin, Muhammad Dinie Bin Asyraf and Claire Toh fell to 3-0 and 3-1 defeats to Thailand and Indonesia respectively. They will next play against Thailand’s Dararat Asayut and Anurak Laowong tomorrow at 11am.

 

Badminton

In the second round of the Men Doubles SU5, Ang Chee Hiong and Tay Wei Ming lost 2-0 to Malaysia’s Amyrul Yazid Ahmad Sibi and Mohd Amin Burhanuddin. They will next play against Indonesia’s Oddie Kurnia Dwi Listiano Putra and Suryo Nugroho with details to be confirmed.

Xavier Lim defeated Cambodia’s Rith Metrey 2-0 in the second round of the Men’s Singles SH6. He will next face Malaysia’s Muhammad Amin Azmi on Jun 6 at 2.30pm.

Jun 4

Badminton

In the first round of the Men’s Doubles SU5, Ang Chee Hiong and Tay Wei Ming beat the Philippines’ Antonio Dela Cruz Jr and Basil Anthony Hermogenes 2-0. They will play against Malaysia next. 

Chee Hiong also beat hosts Cambodia 2-0 in the opening match for Team Singapore in the Men’s Singles SL4. He will next play against Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan who is ranked third in the world rankings.

 

Swimming

In the Men’s 400m Freestyle S7 Timed Final, Toh Wei Soong clinched Singapore’s first medal at this year’s Games after clinching the silver medal with a timing of 5:16.84. 

Janelle Tong also won the silver medal in the Women’s 400m Freestyle S10 Timed Final, clocking in at a timing of 6:30.13. 

She then clinched the bronze medal in the Women’s 100m Freestyle S10 Timed Final, after clocking in at a timing of 1:27.07. She has set a new national record and personal best.

In the Men’s 100m Breaststroke SB14 Timed Final, Darren Chan won the bronze medal with a timing of 1:18.82 He has set a new national record and personal best. Han Liang Chou came in seventh place out of nine with a timing of 1:22.82.

Colin Soon won Singapore’s first gold medal at this year’s Games in the Men’s 100m Breaststroke SB13 Timed Final, setting himself a new Games record with a timing of 1:13.71. Wong Zhi Wei clinched the bronze medal with a timing of 1:17.14.

In the Women’s 100m Breaststroke SB13 Timed Final, Sophie Soon clinched the gold medal after clocking in at a timing of 1:29.78.

Toh Wei Soong won the gold medal in the Men’s 100m Freestyle S7 Timed Final,  setting a new Para Games record with a timing of 1:04.97.

In the Women’s 50m Backstroke S14 Timed Final, Danielle Moi clinched the silver medal with a timing of 36.20 seconds, setting herself a new national record and personal best.

 

Powerlifting 

In the Women’s 50kg Final, Nur Aini Bte Mohamad Yasli made history after winning two bronze medals. She clinched her first medal after lifting 80kg in the Best Lift division and won the other after lifting a total of 155kg in the Total Lift division.

Table Tennis 

After back-to-back losses against Indonesia and hosts Cambodia, the men’s team defeated the Philippines with a score of 2-1 in the third round of the 1-3 Pools. They will next face Thailand tomorrow at 12pm. 

 

Boccia 

After defeating fellow countryman Gareth Ho 8-0 in the first round, Aloysius Gan defeated Malaysia’s Vickneshwaran R. Tiagarajan 7-1 in the second round of the men’s BC3 Round Robin. 

Gareth will next play against Indonesia’s Trimo Coba Kuwat on Jun 5 at 12pm. 

In the first round of the BC1 Women’s Pools, Jeralyn Tan defeated Cambodia’s Sophea Meach 10-1. She will next play against Handayani Handayani on Jun 5 at 3pm. 

Toh Sze Ning beat Indonesia’s Suci Kirana Dewi 6-1 and Malaysia’s Lim Yin Xiang 10-0 in the first and second round respectively in the Women’s BC3 Round Robin. She will next face Thailand’s Juthamat Rattana on Jun 5 at 6pm. 

 

Athletics 

In the Men’s 100m Final, James Ang finished in fourth place out of seven, clocking in a timing of 11.61 seconds. 

Muhammad Diroy Noordin came in fourth place out of four in the Men’s F40/41 Javelin Final after accumulating a total distance of 23.97 metres.

Jun 3

The 12th edition of the ASEAN Para Games witnessed its official opening at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh. 

A total of 29 athletes and officials represented Team Singapore during the opening ceremony.
