Team Singapore shuttlers Terry Hee, Tan Weihan win Orleans Masters 2022 mixed doubles title

The duo’s victory in the badminton tournament was their seventh title together.

Team Singapore shuttlers Terry Hee and Tan Weihan won the mixed doubles category in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Orleans Masters 2022.

The pair defeated Indonesia’s Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Lisa Ayu Kusmawati in the finals on Sunday (Apr 3) to clinch the title.

The duo (ranked 86th) defeated England’s Callum Hemming and Jessica Pugh (ranked 50th) to qualify for the quarter finals, where they dispatched Hong Kong’s Reginald Lee and Ng Tsz Yau (ranked 189th).

They then overcame France’s Fabien Delrue and Vimala Heriau (ranked 82nd) in the semi-finals before defeating Indonesia’s Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto and Lisa Ayu Kusmawati (ranked 49th) with a score of 21-12, 16-21, 21-13 in the finals.

With their victory in the BWF Orleans Masters 2022, the TeamSG mixed doubles shuttlers have now won two championship trophies in 2022, after earning their first in the BWF Super 500 India Open title in January this year. 

The title in the Orleans Masters 2022 will also make it a total of seven titles which the married couple have won together.

The pair will next compete in the Korea Open, a Super 500 event, which will take place from Apr 5 to 10. They face unranked South Koreans Shin Tae-yang and Chang Ye-na in the first round.
