Taxi ride surcharge from Changi Airport to increase by $3 from May 19 till Jun 30
This increase from the current surcharge is meant to encourage a higher supply of taxis at Changi Airport.
From May 19 to Jun 30, the taxi surcharge from Changi Airport will be raised to “ensure a better supply of taxis” for passengers, Changi Airport announced in a Facebook post on Thursday (May 12).
The surcharge will be increased to $8 every day from 5pm to 11.59pm, and $6 at all other times.
Currently, the surcharge is $5 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5pm to 11.59pm, and $3 at all other times.
In spite of the increase in global air travel, the Changi Airport Group noted taxi drivers’ reluctance to pick up passengers from the airport, The Straits Times reported.
As such, this move is meant to encourage more taxis to pick up passengers from the airport.
ComfortDelGro Taxi also announced in a Facebook post that the revised surcharge will be applicable for rides from Changi Airfreight Centre, Airport Police Station, and Airport Logistics Park of Singapore as well.
The revised surcharge will be effective from 12am on May 19 to 11.59pm on Jun 30.
