Tamiya workshops, races to be held at Jurong Point, AMK Hub & Thomson Plaza in June

Workshops to build mini four-wheel drive (4WD) models and test out the cars on race tracks will be held in June at three shopping malls.

Part of Link REIT’s Vroom to Fantastic Rewards campaign, there will be $6,000 shopping vouchers up for grabs.

Visitors to the three malls – Jurong Point, AMK Hub and Swing By @ Thomson Plaza – will be able join in the daily workshops held from 2pm to 3pm with a minimum spend of $80 in three same-day, same-mall receipts. Participants will also get to bring home the 4WD models they build.

Racetracks will be set up in the malls, each featuring different designs and challenges to navigate. Workshop participants can have a go and compete at the racetrack for free, while non workshop participants who won their own Tamiya model can participate with a minimum spend of $30 in a single receipt at the mall.

A Tamiya race will be held on Sundays, from 2pm to 8pm as well. Those competing in the beginner category can win up to $200 shopping evouchers, while those competing in the open category can win up to $300 shopping evouchers.

Separately, a GT Race will also be held. Enthusiasts can compete for their fastest lap timings, and interested participants who spend at least $30 in a receipt can get two free plays on weekdays and one free play on weekends.

The highest ranking participants are then qualified for the GT Race Championship that is held every Saturday at each mall, with up to $300 evouchers to be won.

All participants in the Tamiya race and GT Race will receive a token $5 evoucher.

The racing-themed activities will be held from Jun 5 to 11 at AMK Hub, Jun 12 to 18 at Jurong Point and Jun 19 to 25 at Swing By @ Thomson Plaza.
