Some say support local, some say support the environment. You can now do both with Huggs Coffee and the Mandai Wildlife Group’s latest collection of sustainable merchandise.

A collaboration between Huggs Coffee and the Mandai Wildlife Group, the collection intends to promote “sustainable choices in everyday living”, both organisations announced on Thursday (Oct 6).

The merchandise is made out of recycled and environmentally-friendly materials and features plush toys, bluetooth speakers and cookies.

The coffee cookies were baked with spent coffee grounds used by Huggs Coffee. This was done in a collaboration with WellSpent Upcycling, an enterprise business of At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy.

Each bag of cookies weighing 100g cost $9.

The Sound of the Wild bluetooth speaker is made from “responsibly harvested” wood and is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. FSC is an international non-profit organisation that helps businesses work with forests responsibly.

The speaker is priced at $30.

Retailing at $24, the Sun Bear plushie was made with 100 per cent post-consumer polyester stuffing that comes from plastic waste and recycled biopolymer pellets.

The plushie is based on the Malayan Sun Bear species that is listed as “Vulnerable” under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.

Till Oct 21, customers can redeem free cookie samples when they purchase any item from Huggs’ Coffee’s classic coffee selection at its AIBI Maxwell location. This is only available for two hours from 3 to 5pm.
