Sustainability-themed outdoor movie screenings to be held on Jul 7 and 21; tickets now on sale
The event, ‘Films on the Farm’, will screen movies that cover topics such as global warming, food security and zero waste living.
Outdoor sustainability-themed movie screenings will be held on Jul 7 and 21, between 7pm and 10pm.
Organised by local urban farm City Sprouts, a total of two movies will be screened at the Films on the Farm event. This is part of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment’s #GoGreenSG campaign.
The first movie, screened on Jul 7, features a curious boy who learns the truth about his town when he goes looking for the Once-ler – a mysterious hermit who knows what happened to all the trees.
The second film will be screened on Jul 21. A documentary film, it highlights the drastic decline in the health of the world’s oceans and the impact on marine life caused by the expansion of the industrialisation of the seas.
Aside from the movie screenings, attendees will receive healthy and sustainable snacks and beverages.
There will also be opportunities to learn about the benefits of a rooftop farm as well as the other green spaces in the city.
Founded in 2019, City Sprouts is a social enterprise that revamps urban spaces and develops educational programs to create communities that inform, educate and support action on social and environmental issues.
The company’s founder, Zac Toh, won the Singapore Green Building Council’s (SGBC) Green Innovator of the Year award in 2017 after developing the Gaiamat green roof system with GWS Living Art, a company he founded that same year.
The system then played a key role in developing Asia’s first green bus in 2019, which was part of the Garden on the Move initiative.
Admission to Films on the Farms cost $30 per pax. Those interested can register via this link.
The event will be held at Sky Sprouts. It is located at 896 Dunearn Rd, Singapore 159562.
