Starbucks opened its new outlet at Bird Paradise on May 8.

The ceiling, outdoor bench seating, planters and more wood pieces of the new outlet have been Green Label-certified by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC).

Green Label is Singapore’s leading environmental standard and certification mark. According to the SEC, the scheme aims to help the public identify environmentally preferred products that meet certain eco-standards.

All water faucets in the store including spray heads, aerators and blender rinsers are three-tick certified, which is the maximum rating of water-saving standards for appliances in Singapore.

The refrigerator, ice machine, water heater freezer and dishwasher are also specially sourced to ensure overall energy efficiency, said Starbucks Singapore.

Customers are encouraged to use “for-here” dining ware in stores or to bring their own bags and tumblers to reduce the use of disposables, as part of Starbucks’ sustainability initiatives.

Sustainable packaging options are also available for takeaway orders, including paper bags made of 95 per cent post-consumer fibre, 100 per cent recycled napkins, strawless lids, compostable straws, and biodegradable cutlery.

The new outlet also features a hand-painted mural collaboration with local artists, Rippleroot. It is situated at the entrance of the store.

Starbucks at Bird Paradise will offer free plant-based milk with any drink order as part of its store opening promotions until May 31.

Customers may choose from all four available types of plant-based milks such as soy, oat, almond and coconut, and customise the drink of their choice.

The first 2,000 customers to spend $20 at the Bird Paradise outlet will receive a free Starbucks Reusable Cup, while stocks last. Bringing around this reusable cup or any reusable tumbler also gets you a 50-cent discount on your drink purchases at all Starbucks outlets.
