Canberra residents certainly got a colourful treat on Christmas Eve.

On the night of Dec 24, a stairwell of a HDB block in Canberra Link was decorated with rainbow lights by local art collective Very Small Exhibition. The collective was started by three friends Wei Lieh Lee, Andrew and Joanne.

Very Small Exhibition’s latest work was titled “Very Momentary Exhibition 2.x (X’MAS)” and took place at block 504C from 9.30pm to midnight.

Apart from sparking curiosity among passers-by, their works at public spaces aim to provide other artists a platform to experiment and showcase their talents.

Videos of the artwork also appeared on other social media platforms like TikTok.

This isn’t the first time they decorated a public housing space. On Nov 20, a similar exhibition was installed at a HDB block in Clementi.

This piece took me 2 hours to setup, and then took down one hour later. It's very momentary, that's why it is special....

The group of friends also have an on-going light installation exhibition at Science Centre till Jan 2, 2022, from 7pm to 9pm.
