SpongeBob SquarePants collaborates with Kang Daniel for new merchandise line
12 items featuring a specially designed Kang Daniel character with the cast of SpongeBob SquarePants are included in the collection.
The world of K-Pop and classic animated TV shows collide in the new SpongeBob SquarePants X KANGDANIEL collection that launches from Jun 24 to 30.
For this collaboration, Paramount Global worked with KONNECT Entertainment, the agency that South Korean idol Kang Daniel is under, to create and design Daniel’s character.
The design incorporates Daniel’s personality through his facial expressions, hairstyle, clothing, and accessories with SpongeBob’s fun and colourful art style.
The collection features 12 products ranging from stationery to accessories with Daniel’s character together and the rest of the crew from Bikini Bottom like SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star and Squidward.
One of the items that is up for sale is a jet black tote bag with a graphic collage of SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Star, and Daniel’s character.
Various prints of the characters are used as the design for a soft blue blanket from the collection.
Daniel was first known during his time on the second season of Produce 101, a South Korean reality show where K-pop idol trainees compete against one another to make it to the top 11 based on votes by fans of the show.
He finished first in the show and soon debuted with the rest of the winners of that season in a K-Pop idol group known as Wanna One. The group was active from 2017 to 2019.
The idol managed to sell over a million albums within the first two years of his solo debut and had recently released a full-length album titled The Story.
The full collection is available for purchase on KONNECT Entertainment’s merchandise website. International shipping is available.
