Taking place from Dec 16 to 18, Somerset Film Snaps will include a showcase of photographs taken by young local photographers, along with other film photography related activities.

Organised by OKB.sg and local film lab Hands On Film in partnership with Somerset Belt, the exhibition at *SCAPE unit #02-15 hopes to encourage more youths to share their photos and to interest them in film photography.

It will feature medium format photographs of the current surroundings of Somerset Belt. Medium format photography refers to photography using a camera that makes use of the 120 film size or has a digital imaging sensor that imitates that size.

Besides the exhibition, there will also be a camera and print market, and photography walks and workshops.

The market at the *SCAPE atrium will feature local film labs, camera shops and vintage stores such as Retroanalogue and FILEM. Visitors can also join in the lucky dip for a chance to win prizes including disposable cameras and a Polaroid Now camera.

The photography walks will take young photographers along a guided trail with experts in their chosen mediums. Besides the walks, youths can also learn about film photography at Instant Conversation sessions with local photographers Charles Yee, Samantha, and Coby Travis of The Film Initiative.

Entry to both the exhibition and market are free, but charges may apply for workshops and other activities. The first 50 people to register their interest in the event via the Somerset Film Snaps website will get an exclusive postcard and sticker sheet set upon arrival at the event.
