There will be six long weekends next year, including a four-day weekend.

The dates of 2023’s gazetted public holidays were announced by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) on Friday (Apr 8). There will be 10 scheduled public holidays next year.

The Chinese New Year period will result in the longest weekend next year. The first two days of Chinese New Year fall on a Sunday (Jan 22) and Monday (Jan 23), which means the following Tuesday (Jan 24) will be a public holiday, resulting in a four-day weekend.

New Year’s Day (Jan 1) and Deepavali (Nov 12) fall on Sundays, so the Mondays after will be public holidays.

Labour Day (May 1) and Christmas Day (Dec 25) both fall on Mondays, resulting in a three-day weekend.

Another three-day weekend will also take place from Apr 7 to Apr 9 because of Good Friday (Apr 7).

The other four other public holidays for 2023 are Hari Raya Puasa (Apr 22), Vesak Day (Jun 3), Hari Raya Haji (Jun 29) and National Day (Aug 9).
