Singapore’s shuttlers are on a roll, after the mixed pair of Terry Hee and Tan Wei Han clinched gold in the India Open 2022 on Sunday (Jan 16).
The couple, who got married in October 2021, upsetted their higher-ranked Malaysian counterparts Chen Tang Jie and Peck Yen Wei 21-15, 21-18 in about 40 minutes.
Terry and Wei Han were ranked 182nd in the world, while the Malaysians were ranked 40th.
This is Terry and Wei Han’s seventh title win. It was also their first gold in the Super 500- the fourth tier in the Badminton World Federation World Tour circuit.
On the same day, Singapore’s badminton world champion Loh Kean Yew lost to India’s Lakshya Sen in the men’s singles final. The match lasted 52 minutes, with Lakshya winning 24-22, 21,17.
