Two Singapore bars were named in the 14th edition of the World’s 50 Best Bars list, which was unveiled during the awards ceremony in Barcelona, Spain on Oct 4.

With votes from more than 650 experts worldwide, the list recognises some of the world’s most prestigious drinking venues.

Singapore’s Jigger and Pony is still the highest ranked bar in Asia, despite dropping out of the top 10 to 12th this year. It was previously placed ninth in 2021.

Regent Singapore’s cocktail bar Manhattan was placed 33rd on the list, 18 places down from its 15th placing in the 2021 list.

This is the first time since 2017 that no Singapore bar has made the top 10 of the list. However, eight Singapore bars have made the 51-100 list, including Sago House (ranked 51st), MO Bar (ranked 57th) and Analogue (ranked 65th).

Barcelona’s Paradiso (ranked third in 2021) claimed the title of the World’s Best Bar, followed by London’s Tayēr + Elementary (ranked second in 2021) and Barcelona’s Sips, which also won the Nikka Highest Climber Award 2022 as it rose 34 spots to third in the rankings.

Asian representatives in the top 50 include Best New Opening winner BKK Social Club from Bangkok (ranked 14th), Tokyo’s Bar Benfiddich (ranked 48th) and New Delhi’s Sidecar (ranked 26th).

Mark Sansom, content director of The World’s 50 Best Bars, said: “This is the first time we have crowned a bar outside New York or London as The World’s Best Bar, a testament to the achievements of Giacomo, Margarita and their team.

“Our congratulations go out to every bar on the list and we are delighted to once again be able to showcase the incredible diversity of the global industry.”
