Singapore’s first ever roving concept container hotel to open at Downtown East

UPDATE (Sep 22): Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, the organisers have pushed back the launch of D’Ultimate Xcape’s Vacay To The East to October. The organisers will announce more details at a later date. 

Thinking of what to do this September? Journey to the east to experience Singapore’s first ‘pop-up’ container hotel staycation by SG Hotel On Wheels (SHOW).

In collaboration with NTUC Club, SHOW will be part of D’Ultimate Xcape’s Vacay To The East, a pop-up event which will also feature Uncle Ringo the carnival, the Dino Inflatable Park and other carnival games by Ultimate. 

The 10-room boutique hotel is set to launch on Sep 22 at Downtown East’s Begonia Open Air Carpark and will last till Mar 20, 2022.

This is Singapore’s first roving staycation experience and is jointly developed by Ultimate, the team behind fun attractions AIRZONE and ART-ZOO, and leading container customisation specialist LS Modula, a container specialist for installations such as Art-Box Singapore, and Market on Wheels.

“With the unique ability to pack up, dismantle, load up, and pop up at an entirely new location in a matter of days we challenge the notion of what hotels should be”, said Sam Chiu, co-founder of Ultimate.

For their first pop-up container hotel at Downtown East, SHOW has collaborated with various F&B vendors as part of their multi-merchant-single-order ‘room service’. This feature connects guests to Downtown East’s wide array of F&B choices, enjoying cuisine from different outlets with no delivery charge. 

Couples can pick from five themed 20-footer suites that offer intimate accommodation for two adults, namely Resort, Industrial, Country, Minimalist and Retro. 

Families can opt for the 40-footer suites which can comfortably accommodate four adults with one queen-sized bed and a double sofa bed for kids, a kitchen, dining area, and living room. 

Prices start from $239 per night for 20-footer rooms and $299 per night for 40-footer rooms, both of which come with complimentary Wild Wild Wet day passes. Other activity bundle options will also be available at check-in.
