Singaporean director and filmmaker Nelson Yeo is set to debut at the Locarno Film Festival with his new drama and fantasy film Dreaming & Dying.

The Locarno Film Festival, held from Aug 2 to 12, is an annual Switzerland film festival that showcases films in various competitive and non-competitive sections. These include feature-length films, documentaries, short films, avant-garde, and retrospective programmes.

The film will premiere under the competitive section Concorso Cineasti del presente (filmmakers of the present), which is reserved for first and second full-length feature films.

Dreaming & Dying (好久不见) centers around three middle-aged friends reuniting for the first time in years. Each of them sets out to confess unexpressed feelings, but their vacation takes a surprising turn when the undercurrent of their past lives threaten to resurface.

The film is produced by Singaporean film production company Momo Film Co. Producers Tan Si En and Sophia Sim are known for their participation in Wet Season by Anthony Chen and Every Floor Looks The Same by Gladys Ng respectively.

Nelson’s short films have previously been selected for international film festivals such as Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg, Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, and Cairo International Film Festival.

His recent project Plastic Sonata won the CathayPlay Best Chinese Short Film at Seashorts Film Festival. Another film, Dreaming, received a Special Mention at Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival.
