The Para Swimming World Series will make its return to Singapore for the 2023 and 2024 season under a new name, the Citi Para Swimming World Series, announced the Singapore Disability Sports Council in a Facebook post on Monday (Jul 25).

Apart from its title change following its exclusive partnership with Citi, the competition will also see a rejuvenated format and more events for its seventh and eighth editions in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

The 2023 season will see the world series span from February to November next year, and will feature events across nine countries in the world. The season will commence at Melbourne, Australia, before coming to Singapore as its fifth destination from May 5 to May 7 next year.

Singapore similarly serves as the fifth host country for the 2024 World Series, which will take place here from May 3 to 5 in 2024. The season will span from February 2024 to December 2024, and will be the largest World Series ever with 10 host countries.

While only nine host countries have been confirmed for the 2024 season, the final country is set to be from Asia, and will feature as the eighth destination after Berlin, Germany and before Tijuana, Mexico.

The Para Swimming World Series last came to Singapore in 2019 for its third season, where it featured a total of seven countries. It was also supposed to feature once more in Singapore in the 2021 season, but the competition was subsequently cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
