This is the Singapore boys tchoukball youth team’s first gold medal.
The Singapore boys’ Under-15 team and girls’ Under-18 team clinched gold medals in their respective age-groups at the World Youth Tchoukball Championships on Sunday (Jul 16).
The tournament was held at the Pasir Ris Recreation Centre from Jul 14 to 16, and featured players from Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Taipei, Switzerland, France and Macau.
During the championships, the boys under-15 team clinched a 44-40 victory over defending champions Taipei. This is the first time that the youth team won a gold medal.
The girls’ under-18 team scored a 43-19 win over Malaysia in the semi-finals before a dominant 43-16 win over Macau in the final on Sunday. They finished the tournament with four wins in the group stage, without a single defeat.

Alongside the two golds, the boys’ Under-18, girls’ Under-12 and Under-15 clinched silver medals. The boys’ Under-12 won the bronze medal.
The 2019 edition of the competition saw team Singapore earn one gold, four silvers, and one bronze.
After the prize-giving ceremony, President of The Tchoukball Association of Singapore (TBAS) Delane Lim announced a record $70,000 cash sponsorship by BOC Aviation, an aircraft leasing company. This is the largest cash sponsorship received by TBAS since its inception in March.
The cash sponsorship will go towards supporting TBAS in player development, airfare and accommodation for the upcoming World Championships in Prague in August, and the cost of organising major tchoukball events in Singapore.
