Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s 2023/2024 season to feature Hans Zimmer music, return of youngest artist-in-residence Chloe Chua
Between July 2023 to June 2024, classical music lovers can look forward to concerts featuring world-acclaimed musicians as well as free island-wide performances.
After wrapping up its previous season with performances by its youngest artist-in-residence Chloe Chua, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is extending her role for another year in their upcoming 2023/2024 season.
Running from July 2023 to June 2024, the new season will feature music by acclaimed film composer Hans Zimmer. World-renown guest soloists and guest conductors will also be at concerts.
Titled SSO Pops: The Music of Hans Zimmer and conducted by Gerard Salonga, the concert on Jul 14 and 15 will feature Zimmer’s iconic works from films including The Last Samurai, Interstellar and The Dark Knight.

With her return in SSO’s new season, Chloe Chua will perform in four concerts, said SSO in a press release on May 4.

In the months of July 2023, March and May 2024, classical music enthusiasts can also enjoy free concerts across the island such as SSO Lunchtime Concerts, SSO In Your Community, Temasek Foundation SSO Symphony In The Gardens, Temasek Foundation SSO Music In The Meadow, and SSO Mother’s Day Concert.

The 2023/2024 season will draw to a close with two concerts showcasing masterpieces by Beethoven and Berlioz, a newly commissioned piece by award-winning local composer Koh Cheng Jin as well as special programme under SSO’s VCHpresents series.

“Local talents, celebrated conductors and musicians around the world, family-friendly programmes – the new season has something for everyone,“ said Director of Artistic Planning Hans Sorensen.
“I hope to continue keeping SSO’s long-time fans excited while reeling in curious first-time concertgoers through new works and crowd favourites.”

The orchestra’s first concert of the season, SSO Pops: The Music of Hans Zimmer, will take place at Esplanade Concert Hall at 7.30pm on July 14 and 15. The tickets, ranging between $20 to $88, are available for online purchase.
