Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) has been adorned with Hari Raya decorations as the festival approaches, announced the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Thursday (Apr 21).

One themed train will roll out for each MRT line including Circle, Downtown, North-east, North-south and Thompson-East Coast line until Jun 2.

Bus services 7, 28, and 154 which run through the Geylang Serai vicinity and local heartlands will progressively be embellished with the decor as well.

In addition, wall murals and decals can be found at Ang Mo Kio, Boon Lay Integrated Transport Hubs and Paya Lebar MRT Station respectively.

According to LTA, these decorations follow the theme of “Gotong Royong” which is symbolic of unity and resilience in a community.

The mayor of the South East District Mr Fahmi Aliman also noted his experience onboard the Hari Raya-themed train at Pasir Ris MRT Station on Facebook.

He shared that the theme which features blooming flowers and icons “was inspired by the values and traditions of the Muslim community”.

Themed stations, trains and buses are part of LTA’s efforts to liven up the commuting experience during festive seasons and foster a positive commuter culture,” said LTA.
