Singapore archer Syahidah Alim clinches gold at Phuket Asia Para Archery Tournament 2022
She also represented Singapore in the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2022 Paralympics.
Team Singapore archer Syahidah Alim clinched the gold medal under the Compound Women Category at the Phuket Asia Para Archery Tournament 2022 on Mar 27.
The tournament commenced last Wednesday (Mar 23) with 16 competitors from four countries. The countries represented were Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
Syahidah was the only competitor representing Singapore in the tournament.
The Singaporean archer came out in the qualification round with a score of 677 and later defeated Thailand’s Katemongkon Rhomshalee and Homjanthuek Praphaporn in the semi-finals and finals respectively to clinch the gold medal.
Syahidah made her competitive debut at the 8th ASEAN Para Games in Singapore in 2015, where she managed to clinch two gold medals. She is also the first female archer to represent Singapore and reach the quarter finals of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
The 36-year-old also became Singapore’s first ever world champion archer at the World Archery Para Championships in the Netherlands.
