Sign-ups for the fifth season of the Youth Action Challenge (YAC) are now open, where participants may receive up to $50,000 worth of grants to develop solutions for different societal issues.

Organised by the National Youth Council (NYC) and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) in partnership with Citi Foundation and United Nations Development Programme through their Youth Co:Lab initiative, YAC is a structured programme that empowers youths to champion ground-up initiatives in partnership with the Government, businesses and community organisations.

Participants will get to attend a series of curated workshops, and receive mentorship and guidance from industry experts.

The programme is also part of the SG Youth Action Plan (YAP).

For this run of the programme, participants may choose from four themes – Caring & Inclusive Society, Food Security (Environment and Sustainability), Well-being & Resilience and Digital Inclusion & Safety.

Participants will go through a four-month journey from October 2023 to January 2024,  to learn about the respective themes and pick up useful tools to assist them in their ideation.

A grant of up to $50,000 will be implemented to support the solutions that were created through the programme. Teams stand to receive $5,000, $20,000 and $50,000 grants following the Final Open Mic session of the programme, where teams get to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges.

Singaporeans and permanent residents aged 15 to 35 years old are eligible to register for YAC. Registrations will close on Sep 13.

Youths who wish to find out more about YAC may attend the Ask-Me-Anything session on Aug 16. More information on the timeline and challenge statements for YAC Season 5 can be found on NYC’s website.
