Shakespeare in the Park returns with ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ from May 3 to 28
This is the first Shakespeare in the Park since 2018.
Singapore Repertory Theatre’s (SRT) Shakespeare in the Park will make its return at Fort Canning Park from May 3 to 28 with the playwright’s famous A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Directed by the award-winning Guy Unsworth, this is the first time the programme is held since 2018.
Set in the city of Athens, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a romantic comedy about a war between the fairy king and queen, while young lovers form love triangles due to influence from the fairy of mischief, Puck.
The play consists of five interconnecting plots, all connected by the celebration of the wedding of Duke Theseus of Athens and the Amazon queen, Hippolyta.
The shows will run from Tuesdays to Sundays at 7.30pm, and audiences are to be seated by 7pm. The show will last approximately two hours and 30 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.

There are three categories of tickets available: Picnic, premium picnic, and pavilion.
Pavilion tickets include a seat and a show programme. Premium picnic tickets includes a picnic space at a reserved area near the stage, a pre-show stage walkthrough and a complimentary show programme.
Standard show tickets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays are priced at $60 for picnic, $103 for pavilion and $118 for premium picnic.
Peak shows on Fridays and Saturdays are priced at $70 for picnic, $108 for pavilion and $138 for premium picnic. Tickets for the preview shows on May 3 and 4 are priced at $60 for picnic and $98 for both pavilion and premium picnic.
Those who purchased picnic or premium picnic tickets are advised to bring their own picnic mats or floor seats with backrests. No deck chairs or low chairs are allowed at the picnic venue.
Ticket buyers who are PAssion card members get 10 per cent off picnic and pavilion tickets. This promotion is applicable on all SISTIC platforms.
Attendees can also pre-order a picnic meal from InterContinental Singapore to enjoy during the show.
