SG50 NDP highlights
Here are some of the exciting things to expect from this year's parade.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you will definitely know that it is Singapore’s 50th birthday this year. There already have been loads of promotions and merchandise embedded with the SG50 logo.
Of course, it being our golden jubilee, our National Day Parade (NDP) promises to be bigger and better as well. So here are some of the things you should watch out for during the SG50 National Day Parade.
Parade Marches
This year’s NDP focuses on hitting you hard with nostalgia as well as appreciation for our pioneers. During the vintage parade march past, be sure to look out for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Veterans League. It will surely be a heartwarming moment to see those who have contributed so much to our country’s armed forces marching in their uniforms with pride.

The groups that will follow their march include the Singapore Police and Civil Defence Force. You can also expect to see other groups such as POSB and Singapore Airlines’ represented as well.
Amazing Props
The effort put into making this a spectacular experience can be seen through the uniquely Singaporean and elaborate props. Our personal favourites are those that reflect our Nation’s identity; Iconic tourist attractions, our beloved mascots, local slang and favourite local food.

Expect to see a lot of huge ships as well, since a lot of our history involves people sailing to our tiny little island.
There will be nostalgic videos accompanying the exciting performances at the Padang. Some clips would show scenes from iconic TV shows like Under One Roof, Phua Chu Kang and Liang Popo. It will be a massive #throwback watching the performances and videos.

Of course even during this exciting time we cannot forget the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, whose selfless contribution to our country brought us to where we are today. We have definitely come a long way from the little fishing village to the buzzing metropolis we are today. The video to watch out for is Mr Lee’s tribute video, close to the beginning of the parade.

This video will be a tear-jerker as we honour our nation’s forefather, who is unable to celebrate our golden jubilee with us.
Aerial Display
The aerial displays are always the most exciting part of the parade. Flying is already a magical thing, and having jets shoot across the air just amplifies its awesomeness. Be sure to dash to your television sets the moment you hear them mention “Black Knights” to avoid missing the impressive ’50’ formation flypast.

The parade will definitely be a star-studded event. Of course just having ONE of our local singers perform there is not enough, so this year’s NDP will bring out the big guns and fire lots of big names to perform for the parade.

It is not every year we get to celebrate our nation’s 50th birthday, so this parade is one to watch. Get your Singapore on!
