Seven ideas for a Christmas date with your beloved
Christmas is a time to celebrate with our loved ones and here are some ways you can have a magical date with them!
Christmas is coming and you know what that means! Cue the photos all over social media of couples cuddled up in thick warm clothes as blankets of snow surround them.
As Singapore is located at the equator, this means that sadly, we get just the one season all year round. Where other countries are celebrating a snowy white Christmas, we have an abundance of rain instead.
But that doesn’t mean that we can’t make the most of what we have and celebrate the festive season with our loved ones.
Here are seven Christmas date ideas to get you and your significant other into the festive spirit:
1. Hold hands and ice skate together
While Singapore does not have naturally formed snow and ice, at least we have man-made attractions that bring the cold to us!
The Rink at JCube, located in Jurong East, is Singapore’s first and only Olympic-sized skating rink. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day itself, you can grab the rare chance to experience snowfall as you skate on ice inside a mall.

After all, nothing is more romantic than holding your partner’s hand and dragging them down with you if you lose your balance.
2. Brace the cold at Snow City
If you want a more detailed snowy experience for Christmas, Snow City is the place to go.
Located within Science Centre Singapore in Jurong East, Snow City is the country’s first indoor snow centre providing a plethora of fun activities to do in the cold.
Whiz around the ice on bumper cars with the aim of ‘accidentally’ hitting your partner, test who has the best precision at a sub-zero shooting arena and slide down a slope of snow to see who can go the fastest.

Escape the heat and have a blast with your loved one!
3. Travel to Europe at Gardens by the Bay
Overseas travelling is still restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it does not mean you can’t have a Christmas in Europe. Well, kind of.
Probably one of the most scenic places in Singapore, Gardens by the Bay is a popular destination in Singapore among tourists and Singaporeans.
Ensuring that they keep their attractions up to date, Gardens by the Bay has various Christmas programmes that are sure to wow those who have visited the nature park before.
From reimagined European landmarks, decorations from German and Nordic folklore, majestic light sculptures and of course, festive flowers that tie the whole Christmas vibe together, Gardens by the Bay has turned into a mini Europe.

It is perfect for couples who want to take a few photos for their Instagram.
As you explore with your partner, take in the sights, sounds and smells of the Christmas cheer that Gardens by the Bay provides.
4. Step into a whimsical theme park
For thrill-seeking couples, Universal Studios Singapore is the perfect place to go, especially during the festive season.
Not only will you have fun on the various rides available, the theme park will also be decorated with Christmas lights as characters dressed for the festive season roam around, adding to the magic of this place.

Celebrate Christmas with your loved one while having endless amounts of fun!
5. Explore town and take photos of various light installations
The one place in Singapore best known for its iconic yearly Christmas lights is without a doubt, Orchard Road. Whenever the end of the year comes around, you can be sure Orchard Road is already lit up with festive light decorations.

However, it’s not just the roads that are decorated with Christmas lights. Various spots along the pathways nearby shops are bound to have different kinds of light installations.
Not only are they nice to look at, they make great photo taking spots for your Instagram feed too.
Take a romantic stroll with your partner down town and try to spot as many different Christmas trees as possible!
6. Make Christmas-themed food and drinks at home
For the couples who would prefer a chill date indoors, how about cooking or baking together?
A fun and delicious way to bond, you could attempt a go at traditional Christmas dishes for that added festive flair.

You could also try concocting festive drinks together such as the recent viral trend: Hot Chocolate Bombs.
A magical ball of chocolate that releases cocoa and marshmallows nestled inside upon melting it with warm milk, this treat is fun to make and consume!
7. Binge watch Christmas movies
Of course, what’s the festive season without Christmas movies?
With Netflix releasing new romance movies centred around the holiday every year, there’s an abundance of such movies available.
Cuddle up with your partner with either a festive romance movie like Netflix’s recent A Christmas Prince, throwback to your younger years with The Polar Express, or switch things up and watch a horror Christmas themed movie such as Krampus.

After all, nothing feels better than snuggling with your partner to watch a movie and then falling asleep in their arms.
