WhatsApp users will be able to share their screen during video calls on both mobile phone and desktop in the following weeks, announced the messaging app on Tuesday (Aug 8).

First released for beta testing in May for Android, this feature allows users to share a live view of their screen with other video call participants.

Users can initiate screen sharing by clicking on the “share” icon and choosing between sharing a specific application or sharing the entire screen.

Alongside the screen sharing function, WhatsApp video calls on mobile phones can now also be held in landscape mode for a wider viewing and sharing experience compared to the existing portrait mode.

Video calling was first introduced to the messaging app in 2016, making its debut to all users in November of that year.
