RP’s IGNITE! 15th Music Festival to be held on campus after two years online
The main stage performances will take place on Jul 29 and 30.
Republic Polytechnic’s (RP) annual IGNITE! 15th Music Festival is back on campus with events and performances lined up from Jul 18 to 30.
With the theme of “Passion and Compassion” the student-led festival that was held virtually for the past two years returns featuring talents from the local music scene.
Located at RP’s The Republic Cultural Centre (TRCC) facilities, its main stage will showcase performances from local artists and bands such as ShiGGa Shay, Mariam Carmel, and Bakers In Space.
The winner of the IGNITE! Band Audition will also perform on the main stage. Eight finalists will be competing for the slot on Jul 22 at the South Agora Stage located on RP’s campus.
The main stage will take place on Jul 29 from 5.30pm to 10pm and Jul 30 from 3.30pm to 10pm. Admission is free for the public.
From Jul 18 to 28, a series of fringe events and concerts will be available to drum up interest and excitement for the main stage performances.
On Jul 18 and 25, a Busker’s Fiesta will feature buskers such as Human Cloud, Isaac, Chalmers, and Kay. Its Open Mic event where the public can come up and sing will take place on Jul 20 and 27. Both events are located at RP’s South Agora from 12.30pm to 1pm.
A new addition to the festival’s line of events is titled IGNITE! Incubation Sessions, where participants will get to attend specially curated sessions with veterans in Singapore’s music industry such as Russel Goh, Jayni Wong, and Marc Nair.
These veterans will share their experiences, unique insights, and their best advice on how to build a career in the local music scene.
The session will take place on Jul 21, 26, and 28 from 7pm to 9pm at TRCC’s Create Space located at Level 1. Participants can sign up for the sessions here for free.
