Loof, Singapore’s first standalone rooftop bar and a favourite social media photospot for their iconic “风和日丽” (a phrase commonly used by students to describe a pleasant day) neon sign, is set to close.

The popular rooftop bar announced on Wednesday (Dec 1), that they will be closing after 17 years due to “upcoming building renovations” at Odeon Towers, where they are located on the third floor in the heart of the city centre.

Regular patrons can take comfort in the fact that they will be returning once they find a suitable new location for the business.

Loof first opened in 2005 as a space to celebrate local culture and is well known for its eclectic drinks and Asian-Western fusion food. Prior to the pandemic, the rooftop bar was a popular spot to unwind with friends over the backdrop of resident DJs spinning. You could even enjoy a game of beer pong there.

The rooftop bar has teased a “final hurrah” on New Year’s Day, with their last day of service to be on Feb 27, 2022.

Loof joins the list of F&B closures including American-style diner, The Beast, which closed last month. Local burger chain, Omakase Burger, has also ceased all operations since Oct 27, after nine years of operation. GRUB Burger Bistro at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park will also shut their doors in January 2022 after serving customers for nine years.

Here’s to hope that they can find a new location soon!
