Ramadan Bazaar 2021 goes virtual
With the ongoing pandemic, Hari Raya celebrations have been altered to ensure the safety of the public.
The annual Geylang Serai Hari Raya Bazaar is back this year, albeit virtually.
Traditionally held during the month of Ramadan, which runs from Apr 13 to May 12 this year, the bazaar is hosted at Bazaar-Kita.sg.
The online bazaar will feature various categories where people can find what they are looking for, such as meals, festive goods, merchandise, live performances and charity drives.

Users can also access microsites to get kitchen supplies, personal products, fresh produce, as well as sweet treats like mini doughnuts, brownies, macarons and churros.
In addition to the online bazaar, Wisma Geylang Serai has also 30 online programmes planned which runs from Apr 15 to May 30. The programmes, which include singing performances, comedy skits and baking shows, will be streamed on social media platforms.
There will also be special live shows towards the end of Ramadan.
Although the annual bazaar will be slightly different this year, the annual Hari Raya light-up remains somewhat the same.

The light-up and decoration will last till May 23. The lights will be switched on from 7 pm to midnight but will be extended on May 12 – the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri – till 6 am.
Some highlights of the light-up include two main arches in Sims Avenue and Changi Road. The arch in Sims Avenue features a mosque with golden domes, surrounded by full blooms while the Changi Road arch features a crescent moon and a kompang (handheld drum) with flowers and fruit.
