The Singtel-Singapore Cancer Society Race Against Cancer 2023 will take place physically on Sep 17, with a virtual race spanning from Sep 17 to 30.

Organised by Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), Race Against Cancer (RAC) 2023 aims to raise $1.25 million to fund support programmes and services for cancer patients such as cancer treatment subsidies, welfare assistance, cancer rehabilitation, cancer support groups and hospice care.

The physical run, held on Sep 17 at Angsana Green, East Coast Park from 7am to 11am will feature three distance categories – 5km, 10km and 15km.

In line with the event’s 15th anniversary, each distance will signify an important message for SCS and RAC.

According to the organisers, the 5km run represents the five years that cancer patients take in remission to be considered cancer-free. The 10km symbolises cancer patients’ embracing life 10 years after diagnosis, and 15km celebrates RAC’s 15 years as “Singapore’s longest-standing charity run”.

For those who are unable to join the physical run, there is the Virtual Run challenge held from Sep 17 to 30. It offers 21km and 42km distances along with a host of novelty fun competitions.

Registration for the physical race is open till Aug 25. Virtual Run registrations will open from Jul 15 to Sep 16 via the same link.

While there is no registration fee, participants are encouraged to set up a fundraiser page to raise a minimum amount for their categories.

The minimum fundraising amount for the 5km, 10km and 15km physical run categories are $45, $55 and $65 respectively. For the virtual run, the minimum amount is $55 for the 21km category and $65 for the 42km category.

Participants from the 10km and 15km physical run categories, and the 21km and 42km virtual run categories will receive an event t-shirt, e-certificate and a finisher medal. Those in the 5km physical run category will only get an event t-shirt and an e-certificate.
