Prego Carbonara Mushroom Pasta Sauce recalled by authorities due to detected spoilage

The spoilage of the pasta sauce was due to manufacturing errors, said SFA.

A recall notice for the Prego Carbonara Mushroom Pasta Sauce (665g) was issued by on Thursday (Dec 22) by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

In a press release by SFA, it said that the batch of pasta sauce produced on Aug 17, between 10.18pm and 11.20pm, was spoiled due to manufacturing errors.

The implicated products may exhibit signs of spoilage such as unpleasant smells, unusual colours, a watery appearance and separated layers of liquid, SFA explained.

The spoilage was detected by The Arnott’s Group.

SFA has directed importer Campbell Soup Southeast Asia Sdn. Bhd. to recall the implicated products, which expire on Aug 17, 2023.

The recall of the pasta sauce, which originated from Malaysia, is still ongoing.

Under the Sale of Food Act, foods that are known to be unsuitable for consumption should not be sold.

Customers who have purchased the implicated products are urged not to consume it, and those who have done so should seek medical attention if they feel unwell. They may also contact their point of purchase for further enquiries.
