In an effort to combine local favourites like pizza and bubble tea, Pizza Hut has released its latest menu addition - the Bubble Tea Blossom Pizza
When it comes to pizza, there is always the debate of what should or should not be used as toppings. The list is long and spans from more reasonable entries like pineapples to slightly more outlandish ones like ice cream.
But if you’ve ever felt that list was beginning to run dry, then you’re in for a treat, because Pizza Hut has just released its latest limited-edition menu item – bubble tea pizza.
Yes, you read that right.
Called the Bubble Tea Blossom Pizza, it is a mixture of the classic cheese-based pizza and with some relatively more unique ingredients.
The standard tomato-based sauce is replaced by brown sugar milk tea sauce, while marshmallows and boba pearls scattered across the pizza in place of savoury toppings like pepperoni or mushrooms.
The combination of savoury mozzarella and sweet marshmallows, along with differing textures between the lightly crusted dough and the chewy boba pearls, should make for a rather interesting flavour profile.
While combining sweet and savoury isn’t something new, the addition of candy-like ingredients like marshmallows certainly seem to be a rather novel idea.
While it doesn’t seem like the most appetising of ideas, the uniqueness of the dish itself makes it rather tempting to try.
If you’re dying to get your hands on one, these limited edition pizzas will be available at 67 outlets islandwide starting from Feb 17 until the end of March. For $11.80, you can purchase a personal set, which comes with a drink and a side.
Who knows? Maybe boba pearls on pizza might just be the next pineapple on pizza?
