PE2023: Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Ng Kok Song and Tan Kin Lian to contest for presidency
Harvey Norman Ossia founder George Goh was not issued a Certificate of Eligibility.
Three candidates have been issued Certificates of Eligibility to run in the 2023 Presidential Elections, the Elections Department announced on Friday (Aug 18).
They are former Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, former GIC chief investment officer Ng Kok Song and former presidential candidate Tan Kin Lian.
Three other applications were rejected, including that of Harvey Norman Ossia founder George Goh.
All three eligible candidates have been informed about their successful applications, and are required to submit a community declaration to the Community Committee on Nomination Day (Aug 22). They must also hand over their nomination papers, Certificate of Eligibility and political donation certificate on the same day.
The three unsuccessful applicants have also been notified of the reasons for their disqualification.
As there are three candidates, Polling Day – which is a public holiday – will proceed as scheduled on Sep 1.
