Oval track racing to make debut in Singapore at Changi Exhibition Centre in August
The inaugural Goodstock SpeedFest will feature a US Legend Cars race.
Oval track racing will be held in Singapore for the first time as part of the Goodstock SpeedFest.
To be held from Aug 11 to 13 at the Changi Exhibition Centre, the event will feature a US Legend Cars race, a bandolero race for women and a drift show.
British stunt driver Terry Grant, who holds multiple world records that includes executing the highest loop-the-loop in a car and the most doughnuts standing on a roof of a car, will also perform at the SpeedFest.
About 30 drivers from Singapore, Australia and Britain and the United States are expected to take part in the US Legend Cars race. It is sanctioned by the INEX – the international sanctioning body for the Legend Car – and supported by Motor Sports Singapore.
The race, which has a total prize purse of $150,000 – will comprise 30 laps around the temporary 400m track. The single-seater race cars are expected to reach a top speed of 240kmh.
Apart from the races, the GoodStock SpeedFest will also offer entertainment as well as food and beverage options.
Those attending the event will also get a chance to drive a bandolero car – miniature stock cars with a tube frame and metal cage. It can go up to speeds of 110kmh.
The Goodstock SpeedFest is organised by Singapore promotor Goodstock Motorsports.
US Legend Cars’ vice-president of racing operations G E Chapman said that Singapore is the “right place” to reach fans in the Southeast Asian region.
“Motorsports is growing very fast in Asia… we have a good partner in Goodstock and will work with them to make the event here a success,” he added.
The track venue can seat 5,000 fans each day. Tickets are now available at the ticketmaster website.
