Twelve students from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) have worked with fashion and lifestyle marketplace SHEIN to create a collection for National Day.

Called the SHEIN x NAFA capsule collection, it’s part of a collaboration between SHEIN’s flagship incubator programme SHEIN X and final-year fashion business and management students from NAFA.

The entire capsule collection features six looks and 12 pieces, including tops, trousers, dresses and skirts. Local elements like the ArtScience Museum and Singapore flag inspired the collection. It is available for sale on SHEIN Singapore’s mobile app and website.

The price for the clothing pieces range from $7 to $40.

The entire capsule collection took six months to be created. SHEIN said the students were also provided guidance and professional feedback on the designs and proposed marketing strategy by NAFA Fashion Studies lecturers and SHEIN mentors.

“The partnership between SHEIN and NAFA aims to engage the next generation of creatives and empower them to showcase their talents,” said SHEIN in a press release.

SHEIN’s global head of public affairs Leonard Lin said that the company is dedicated to nurture a new wave of creatives. “(We) are glad to offer the final-year students from NAFA a realistic taste of the design and manufacturing experience before they embark on their professional journeys,” added Leonard, who is also general manager of SHEIN Singapore.

The SHEIN X incubator initiative has expanded its reach to over 3,000 designers and artists around the world, giving rise to a collection of over 30,000 unique creations.
