Opening round of Road to UFC tournament to take place 3 days ahead of UFC 275 at Singapore Indoor Stadium
The tournament is split into three rounds, with the first one taking place in Singapore.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will host the opening round of the Road to UFC tournament at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Jun 9 and Jun 10, just three days ahead of the UFC 275 event.
The tournament will feature four different divisions – flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight – with eight participants each who will compete to attain a UFC contract.
There will be a total of 32 participants from seven countries: 10 from China, seven from Japan and South Korea, four from Indonesia, two from India and one each from Thailand and Philippines.
The tournament will be split into three rounds. The opening round on Jun 9 and Jun 10, consisting of four fights in each division, serves as the first round of the tournament.
In the second round, there will be two fights in each division, where the winners from the first round will compete. The winners from the second round will then face each other in the third and final round, where the winner in each of the four divisions will be awarded with a UFC contract.
The second round of the tournament is scheduled to take place later this year, and the final round will be on the prelims of a UFC Fight Night.
Non-tournament bouts will also take place alongside the tournament, and will feature eight competitors across four fights. It will feature two fighters from South Korea and one each from China, Japan, Philippines, Australia, Sweden and Ireland.
The opening round of the tournament will consist of four episodes, with each episode showcasing four tournament bouts and one non-tournament bout.
In addition to the fights for the tournament on Jun 10, a weigh-in for the UFC 275 will also take place at 9pm on the same day at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
While admission to the Road to UFC tournament and weigh-in is free, a ticket is required for entry to both events. The tickets are available on a first come first serve basis, and can be found here.
