The National Library Board (NLB) has collaborated with various mall partners, including CapitaLand malls, Lendlease, SingPost Centre Mall, Frasers and JTC, to bring learning and discovery into our everyday spaces.

A total of 14 shopping malls in Singapore will have installations, also known as nodes — a key highlight of LAB25 (Libraries and Archives Blueprint 2025) — serving as new entry points into NLB’s wide array of content.

“Through interactive and novel ways of engagement, the nodes aim to reach and attract people who typically do not access NLB’s physical and digital hubs. In this way, they can learn more about what the libraries and archives have to offer and reconnect with the joy of reading and learning,” said Wan Wee Pin, Director, Planning and Development, NLB.

There will be five different types of nodes placed for the public to enjoy: immersive wallpapers, lift decals, digital doors, discovery sculptures and carousel cityscapes.

Immersive wallpapers and lift decals containing photogenic backdrops with fantasy and horror- themed eReads will be available at 12 malls across staggered periods from Oct 21 to Dec 31.

The malls include Bedok Mall, Funan, IMM, JCube, Jem, PLQ Mall, Plaza Singapura, Westgate, Parkway Parade, 313@Somerset, Junction 8 and Singpost Centre Mall.

The Experience Lab, a journey into NLB’s rich collections through interactive stations, will showcase both discovery sculptures and carousel cityscapes.

Discovery sculptures are life-sized sculptures with nature-themed eReads, and carousel cityscapes will transport you to Singapore’s past and present, as well as bring you on a journey around the world with travel-related eReads.

Lastly, the digital doors are digital screens designed as doors which showcase the four LAB25 roles — building a learning marketplace, nurturing an informed citizenry, inspiring Singapore storytellers, and being an equaliser.

The 11 malls are Plaza Singapura, Jem, Waterway Point, PLQ Mall, Fusionopolis, 313@Somerset, VivoCity, Westgate, Funan, JCube and Parkway Parade.
