NLB’s Comics Library pop-up opens at Anchorpoint, will run for a year
The Library’s collection will include comics in Mother Tongue Languages and hold an estimated 11,000 titles eventually.
A Comics Library pop-up by the National Library Board (NLB) is now located on the first floor of Anchorpoint.
The pop-up, which opened on Friday (Sep 22), will run for about a year. It comes after the closure of the Manga Library pop-up at City Square Mall, which ran from February till August.

Readers have no need to fear the loss of favourites from the previous pop-up. Anchorpoint’s Comics Library’s collection will include the City Square iteration’s full reserve of English-language titles.
Alongside these titles, new Mother Tongue Language comics and graphic novels will join the initial collection. A separate children’s collection, also including Mother Tongue Language titles, will also be available.
The library aims to carry over 11,000 comics and graphic novels by early 2024. This will be made up of 9,500 English titles, 800 Chinese titles, 400 Malay titles and 400 titles in Tamil.
Highlight titles that will be available include Guardians of the Galaxy. Somebody’s got to do it (English), 龙猫 (Chinese; an adaptation of My Neighbour Totoro), Siapa? (Malay), and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalaam: if dreams had wings (Tamil).
Mr Ng Cher Pong, NLB’s Chief Executive Officer, said the board hopes that through the expansion of the titles offered, they will “make reading fun and accessible to all”.

Visitors will be required to bring their identification cards (ID) or use the NLB app to enter and exit. Those who wish to borrow titles through means other than the Wallpaper Library may also do so through the exit gantry with the use of their IDs.
Anchorpoint mall is located at 370 Alexandra Rd, Singapore 159953.
