National Library Board (NLB) and BreadTalk Group are collaborating to give away free mini-book keychains for every purchase made from selected Food Republic, Food Junction, BreadTalk, and Toast Box outlets from Mar 31.

This collaboration is part of NLB’s LAB25 (Libraries and Archives Blueprint 2025) efforts to provide libraries and their content with nodes across Singapore to people no matter where they are.

NLB has previously worked with 14 different shopping malls and MUJI to to put up interactive installations and released haiku-themed nodes.

To get the keychain, customers will need to show the scanned QR codes to the cashier when purchasing an item from the store. Customers will collect a token to be used in the gachapon machines to collect their mini book keychains.

The mini-book keychains link to NLB’s resources such as e-books. These books cover various topics from DIY food ideas, such as fermentation for beginners, sourdough-making and growing your own microgreens, to resources tracing the rich, cultural history of food in Singapore.

After purchasing any drinks from 313@somerset and Westgate Food Republic outlets as well as  Century Square and NEX Food Junction outlets, customers can obtain the mini book keychains. The keychains are limited to 50 redemptions per day, while stocks last. For these outlets, the event will end on Apr 10.

For Food Republic, BreadTalk, and Toast Box outlets at BreadTalk IHQ, the event will end on Apr 19. Customers can redeem their tokens by purchasing drinks from the drink stalls at Food Republic.

For the BreadTalk and Toast Box outlets, the tokens can be redeemed upon any purchase. The tokens are only available from 12pm, limited to 30 tokens per day while stocks last.

There will also be 3D life-like installations of dining tables at 313@somerset, City Square, and Wisma Atria’s Food Republic outlets from Apr 25 to May 24. Each outlet’s installation will have their own theme such as modern-food, Peranakan, and nostalgic food themes.

Each installation will provide QR codes that direct participants to different food-related online resources from NLB.

Participants will also get to redeem free local food-themed bookmarks on the weekends. The bookmarks are limited to 50 redemptions per outlet per day, while stocks last.
