Downtown East has launched a new art installation this month. Called ‘Wave Hello’, the sculpture follows the successful six-month exhibition of ‘Lite On!’ last year.

Designed by two Singaporean artists, Tina Fung and Dawn Ang, the installation forms alternate formations of shadows and shapes from the arcs and curves at different times of the day and night so that visitors will uncover different optical perspectives of the environment around them when inside the structure at different times.

‘Wave Hello’ is supported by the National Arts Council.

It is located at the Downtown East open plaza at level one and admission is free.

“The message we are trying to relay is the sense of awe and wonder through a lighthearted installation.” Tina Fung said.

A contest is being held in conjunction with the sculpture’s launch. To take part, all you need to do is to post a picture of you and the structure on Instagram and hashtag @downtowneast and #WaveHelloDE.

Two entries will each win $100 cash and $50 worth of Downtown East food and beverage vouchers.

The competition runs till Jul 31.
