New firefighting protective suits with improved durability and safety features introduced by SCDF
The khaki-coloured suits will be progressively rolled out to all fire stations this year.
Members of the public may catch a glimpse of firefighters sporting a new khaki-coloured attire when attending to emergency calls.
The new generation of the Firefighting Protective Suit (FFPS) is being rolled out progressively across all Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) fire stations within this year, said the SCDF in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Jan 1).
Aside from a new look, the khaki-coloured suits also serve functional purposes, such as better protection from extreme heat and environmental conditions as well as increased visibility in low light conditions.
SCDF added that the new suits also provide firefighters with a better range of motion with its lightweight and stretchable outer shell.

It also reduces heat stress via its highly breathable fabric layers, and provides increased flame protection and abrasion resistance features to enhance its safety and durability.
The new FFPS will also replace the current black suits across all stations within this year, said SCDF.
It added: “While our attire has changed, our duty to our lifesaving mission will never change.”
