David Beckham is working with Netflix to produce a documentary series about his life and his career, the former footballer announced on Wednesday (Jul 13).

The documentary will narrate Beckham’s life from his working-class roots in East London to his career as one of the most iconic football players of all time through unseen personal archive footage and his untold stories, say the football icon via social media.

Apart from extensive interviews with Beckham, the series will also reportedly feature  interviews with people who have been a part of his journey over the last 40 years.

This includes his friends, family, as well as other fellow footballing figures.

While its release date has not been revealed, it has been announced that the documentary will be produced by Academy Award-winners Fisher Stevens and John Battsek.

In his 20-year football career, Beckham amassed a total of 19 major club trophies. He spent a large part of his career with Manchester United, lifting six Premier League titles, before moving onto Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint Germain.

He now serves as the co-owner for Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami FC, which made its professional debut in the league in 2020.

Beckham also recently made an appearance in Singapore for Adidas’ We Got This Talk Show 2.0, where he was featured alongside local celebrities like Jade Rasif and Ikhsan Fandi.
