Netflix adaptation of Mr. Midnight book series to be released Oct 24
The books outsold Harry Potter in parts of Asia, with over 100 installments so far.
The ever-popular Mr. Midnight book series by James Lee is getting a Netflix adaptation. Mr. Midnight: Beware The Monsters will be available for streaming on Netflix from Oct 24.
The Netflix series will be a live-action adaptation of the stories from the books, which have sold over three million copies to date.
It features local actress Chen Yixin, daughter of actors Edmund Chen and Xiang Yun, along with Malaysian actor Idan Aedan and Australian actors Caleb Monk and Nikki Dekker.

The series follows a group of teenagers who investigate paranormal activity and upload their adventures to a blog under the pseudonym of “Mr. Midnight”.
To film the series, Netflix worked together with Beach House Pictures, a production company headquartered in Singapore that previously produced local series My Buddy Bonemasher and Hiccup and Sneeze.

Beach House Pictures’ head of kids, Susan Oliver, wanted to give tweens the chance to experience horror in a non-condescending way while keeping it lighthearted.
She said: “The Mr. Midnight books are an exciting property because they give us the opportunity to do just that by creating a world that will have the audience diving behind the couch one minute and laughing out loud the next.”
