National Service allowance to increase by between $125 and $200 from Jul 1

From Jul 1, all full-time national servicemen (NSF) will receive a $125 to $200 increase in their National Service (NS) allowance, depending on their rank and vocation.

This will apply to all NSFs in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). 

After the revision, an NSF with the rank of Recruit (REC), Trainee, Private (PTE) or Special Constable (SC) will receive a monthly NS allowance of $755, up from the current $630.

NSF with the rank of Lance Corporal (LCP) or Special Constable 2 (SC2) can expect an allowance of $775, an increase from the current $650. 

All NSF holding the rank of Corporal (CPL) will receive $825 and Specialist Cadet Trainees (SCT) in SAF and SCDF $845.

Corporal First Class (CFC) can expect $865, an increase from the current $740. 

NSF in SAF holding the rank of 3rd Sergeant (3SG) and NSF in SPF and SCDF with the rank of Sergeant 1 (SGT 1) will receive $1,075 and 2nd Sergeants (SGT 2) $1,175 increased from the current $1,050.

Those with the rank of Officer Cadet (OCT) can expect an allowance of $1,035, increased from the current $910.

SAF and SCDF NSF 2nd Lieutenants (2LT) and SPF Probationary Inspectors (NSPI) can expect to receive $1,275. Lieutenants (LTA) and Inspectors (NSI) will receive an allowance of $1,455.

The revised NS allowance includes a minimum vocation allowance of $75. Additional vocation allowance paid to national servicemen in selected vocations

A 5 per cent increment can be obtained for every 12 months that NSFs serve in that rank. NSmen can also receive a 5 to 10 per cent increment if they satisfactorily complete an NS activity in the preceding work year.
