A music festival featuring fresh local and regional acts will take place at Somerset Skatepark on Jul 30.

Named Majulah Music Night, it will also feature local food and beverage stalls and art installations.

Organised by independent music company Zendyll Agency in collaboration with the National Youth Council and Somerset Belt, the music festival is held in conjunction with Youth Month.

Audiences can expect to indulge in youth culture, bop along to a mix of music genres and connect with “like-minded music lovers”.

Headlining the event is Taiwanese musician J.Sheon, a rapper, singer and producer that has put out two albums since his debut in 2017. He has also collaborated with Benjamin Kheng on the Singaporean singer’s Fresh Feelings single.

J.Sheon will share a set with fellow Taiwanese artist 同理 Zunya, who specialises in rap and R&B. He is also a runner-up in singing competition Jungle Voice 2021.

Other acts that are slated to perform include Malaysian girl group DOLLA – this will be their international debut – and Chinese dance-pop singer-songwriter JASMINE, the youngest star signed to label RCA Records China. Majulah Music Night will mark her debut.

Local acts that will perform include Glenn Yong of Ah Girls Go Army fame, Feez and hongjoin.

Majulah Music Night will take place from 6.30pm to 10pm, and tickets are available for purchase at Zendyll’s website. “Super Early Bird” tickets cost $38 each, while early bird tickets cost $48 and general admission tickets cost $58 each.

Only 1,000 tickets will be available to “ensure an intimate experience”, said the organisers.

Prior to the music festival, the Super 24 by O School will take place on Jul 29. The event will “witness the fusion of music and dance” and provide a “fresh perspective” on the pathways of culture, arts and entertainment in Singapore.

Super 24 will feature performances from RRILEY, formerly of The Sam Willows.

“We are thrilled to present Majulah Music Night 2023 with an incredible, exciting artist lineup featuring our local Singaporean acts alongside international and regional acts,” said Shawn Wong, deputy director of NYC’s Somerset Belt Office.

“Through such partnerships with Zendyll and O School, these are testaments of our commitment to bringing new and unique experiences with our youth in mind and for all to enjoy at Somerset.”
